1. Open your Merchants Bank account.
Stop by any of our convenient locations to open your account. Make sure to remember your account number and routing number.
2. Stop using your old account.
Let all your checks clear from your old account. Remember this could take several days. Destroy any unused checks, ATM and Debit cards and deposit slips.
3. Change Direct Deposits.
Simply fill out the Direct Deposit Change Form and give it to your employer, the Social Security Administration, your retirement plan or any entity where you receive a direct deposit. (Print extra copies if needed).
4. Change Automatic Payments.
Simply fill out the Automatic Payment Change Form to change all automatic withdrawals or automated payment services (Print extra copies if needed). Donít forget about those that use your old debit card number, such as auto payments made online.
5. Close your old account.
Send in the Account Closeout Form to your former financial institution to close your old account. Thatís it! Itís that EASY!
